K-8 Single Course Enrollment Instructions

  • To enroll a student in a single course, please select the course from the table below and go through the checkout process. You will receive an invoice by email that you can upload to the Utah Fits All portal. Once 21stCent Ed receives notice that the invoice is in ‘Processing,’ we will send you your account and login information.
  • Single course enrollments include one Family Account that can be used by multiple children, but record-keeping is not individualized. Parents will need to track the progress and work of individual children.
  • Please add an “Additional Seat” to your cart to add additional seats for individualized student accounts.
  • If you plan to enroll your student(s) in multiple courses, we recommend the Academy Subscription. A K-8 Academy Subscription will give you one seat in every course listed in the K-8 Catalog. This option is best for families with multiple children or students who want to sample a variety of courses.
  • Do not pick multiple courses if selecting an Academy Subscription. Your student will be automatically enrolled in all courses in that age grouping.

You may not know it, but everyone uses design thinking processes multiple times daily. Anytime a problem needs to be solved, or someone needs to be met, you perform a process similar to design thinking principles. This course will equip students with 21st-century skills as they are formally introduced to design thinking through coding a game for a “client” of their choice. Students will have fun engaging with and learning about their chosen “client” and learning and practicing foundational programming skills in a human-centered approach to design.

Did you know computers have their very own language? Instead of words, computers talk in numbers and short commands. When you master their language, you can make cool things like interactive games, mazes, and digital art come to life. In this course, you’ll learn how to program using Scratch, the MIT Media Lab’s free programming-for-kids software, and how to talk to computers — no robot voice required.

Enrollment Scenarios

  • Single Student, Single Course

Mrs. Donaldson, interested in enrolling her child in the Rocketry Foundations course, chooses the desired program from the list provided below and proceeds to complete the checkout. Shortly after, she receives an invoice via email for the cost of the course, which she forwards to Utah Fits All for approval. Upon approving the invoice, Utah Fits All informs 21stCentEd that the payment is being processed. Subsequently, 21stCentEd establishes an account for the Donaldson family and grants access to the course. Mrs. Donaldson is then notified by email with instructions on how to access the course and an outline of the next steps.

  • Multiple Students, Single Course

The Stevens family, with two children in Grades 6 and 8, is interested in enrolling them in the Lego Intermediate Robotics course. They are presented with two options: enrolling one child in the course, but letting both children view the information, with the understanding that tracking individual progress will be their responsibility, or opting to purchase an additional seat. This second option enables both children to have their own individual student accounts, allowing them to progress at their own pace. Upon completion, each child will receive a separate certificate of completion.

  • Single Student, Multiple Courses

The Thomas family, with one student keen on exploring multiple courses, will find it more economical to opt for an Academy Subscription instead of purchasing three separate courses. By selecting the K-8 Academy Subscription from the catalog, their student gains instant access to all courses within the K-8 range. This allows their child the freedom to engage with as many courses as they wish over the span of a year.

  • Multiple Students, Multiple Courses

The Harper family, with children in grades K, 3, 5, 6, and 8, is interested in a wide array of classes. While the 5th and 6th graders plan to tackle three classes as a duo, the remaining siblings prefer to study independently. Recognizing the K-8 Academy Subscription as the most cost-effective option, the Harpers still wish to accommodate their 5th and 6th graders' desire for individual accounts. This setup enables the two to progress through the shared classes at their own pace. To fulfill this need, in addition to the Academy Subscription, the Harpers opt to purchase an extra seat, ensuring they have dual accounts for the courses the two wish to experience together.
